The Medina family, a celebration of love.
I normally start my blogs with "It was a beautiful sunny day in El Paso, Tx. for a session", but this day was definitely different!
It was supposed to be a beautiful outdoor family session at my clients beautiful backyard, but unfortunately the weather did not cooperate the way we had wanted.
It started to rain that afternoon and I kept saying, "It will pass, it always does!" Well, an hour after showing up to the clients home, it was still sprinkling! Man, did we ever hope and pray that it would just stop raining, but we had to make adjustments, and we did.
I feel that being a professional photographer you have to adjust well to weather changes and changes to a session that you had originally planned out.
Your clients should not feel stressed when it doesn't go as planned nor should they see you stressed out either! Yes, I would have rescheduled any other session, but this was a special day and the family was only together this day for the anniversary dinner reception, so the session had to happen.
We went outside, in the sprinkling rain and shot very quickly and got as many images as we could before it really started to come down again then, we regrouped, dried off and shot the rest of the images inside the home.
With the day we had and everything that went wrong that day, we really made some beautiful images for the family to cherish for years to come and thats a "great session" to me!

Mr and Mrs. Media were celebrating their wedding anniversary with a dinner reception with family and friends that evening.
Mrs Medina decide to have me come to her house to photograph her family before their dinner, since it was rare that her children were all together in the same town.
Such wonderful host, Mrs Medina was. She was so welcoming and was open to any ideas we had, due to the weather. She allowed us to move furniture around and to make the adjustments to her house that we needed.
Mr Medina's ailments kept him from standing so we adjusted and did all we could to make hime feel comfortable through the session. Also, the chair used indoors was an important piece to Mrs Medina, so we were sure to use it in the photographs.
During the viewing session, 2 weeks later, Mrs Medina was excited to view her images and was pleased with the images she saw, which made me happy! At one point, she got up from viewing the images and went to the refrigerator and brought me some mango pudding that her and her granddaughters had made earlier that day......so yummy!
Its families like the Medinas the make me happy to be living my dreams and to know that my imagery that I create is not only appreciated but the images will be cherished.

Wendy - Sprinkles schminkles! I can only imagine how overjoyed they are to have these beautiful family photos with everyone together. I wish more families would prioritize extended family sessions - moments like these are too few and far between sometimes and it’s such a special moment to make time stand still.
